This problem could be remedied however, if even a decent amount of their CTS’s weren’t absolute bullshit. Allowing a “blue belt” to open a school and teach nothing but combatives makes this obvious and those account for the vast majority of CTC’s. They make you wait a minimum of 8 months before you can test and are clearly targeting people who don’t want actual training, they are targeting people who want to say they train while what they are actually doing is LARPing. One, the must have a “combatives” belt demonstrated through kata tests before rolling live is horseshit. You throw in the “minor” details other schools expect you to pick up along the way on your own and yes, you can’t beat their stuff. I’ve seen their techs taught live at non GU schools and if they get through half of one of those vids I’m impressed. This is partly because the brothers are sticklers for technique but also because with most of their videos you cannot teach that stuff live in one session to a whole room full of people. I consider GU the best undergraduate education a bjj student can get, then it’s on to Danaher for your grad school. Second, as others have said, the instruction and quality is top notch, doesn’t get better honestly. Joined up just to chime in on this thread.įirst of all, for what those videos are really worth, they are a steal so pay the money OP you cheap fuck.
